Are you constantly
frustrated by the same pain that keeps recurring? Are you sick of having to
live with this pain for the last few weeks, months or even years? Have you been
to see different health professionals, and nothing seems to work? Being in pain
is not normal, having to live in pain is not the answer.
Neurokinetic Therapy
(NKT) might be your answer.
NKT is a corrective
movement system that addresses the cause of dysfunctional movement patterns
stored in the brain which can be the cause of your pain. David Weinstock, the
founder of NKT, developed this system to assess and treat the cause of
dysfunctional movement, or pain, at their root in the motor control center
(MCC) of the brain. Our MCC in the cerebellum stores movement patterns and
directs the completion of movement through the spinal cord and muscles. In laymans terms, the cerebellum helps
coordinate movement patterns like walking, running, sitting to standing,
rolling around in bed etc. In the event where the MCC houses dysfunctional/bad
movement patterns, it causes the body to execute poor movements and overtime
will cause discomfort/pain or become the precursor to injury.
NKT is a technique that
identifies the muscles that are in a dysfunctional relationship with each other
and causing poor movement patterns. It treats them and reteaches the muscles to fire
properly again. This will reteach the cerebellum new (and correct) movement
patterns and resolve the pain.
Client with ankle arthroscopy – has full range ankle
movement post-surgery non-weightbearing but unable to perform full squat (full
ankle DF) in weight bearing. Left- before NKT treatment, ankle visible stuck;
Right – after one NKT treatment, ankle weight bearing range improved.
To summarise it simply,
think of your body as a perfectly functioning car with each part doing its
correct job. Over time, some parts will tire or wear out, but the car will keep
running for us to get from A to B until one day it breaks down. Our body is an
amazing, powerful, complex system that will keep running and running for us to
go through our daily lives. However, one day it will be like the car, ‘break
down’ and cause us pain.
Allow your body a break
and listen to the aches and pains you’re experiencing. Give us a ring/email if
you are willing to give NKT a try and experience the change!

has completed her NKT level 1 training and is on her way to becoming a certified
practitioner in the next couple of months. She is in love with the power of NKT
and the effect it has on her clients and will be completing her level 2 & 3
training next year.
